Social entrepreneurs are people that are part of their communities and know all about the issues it faces. They have identified a need that they are dedicated to answer, and an innovative way to do so within the market. That’s why we believe that social entrepreneurship is a strong and grassroots express.
To scale and generate maximum impact, social entrepreneurs need to have a better access to science and innovation. That gives formidable opportunities for researchers and scientists to work with projects that are close to the field and are able to bring up scientific challenges, as well as to test the solutions.
However, such collaborations raise problems and are often difficult to implement (intellectual property, agendas, publications, etc). There is a need for a proof of concept and for methodologies and impact assessment of this work to enable further pursue of societal integration in research.
The partnership wants to set up a call to:
• Launch a series of research projects to deliver a proof of concept on such collaborations between researchers and social entrepreneurs
• Show the benefits for research and innovation to focus research projects on social issues
• Find key success factors and create methodologies
• Adapt this approach to the private sector
• Assess the impact of the research projects
